Cheap Car Rentals in Chelsea, New York

The clerk wasn’t welcoming and friendly. She was a military style despot: very short with people.

I was able to reserve a car online a few hours prior to pick up. WHen I went to hertz I was told there was no car.

Everything went smoothly with my rental until the end — I was charged twice by Hertz. I prepaid for the rental and the woman checking me out insisted I hadn’t, even though I showed the receipt. I had to get somewhere shortly after returning the car, so I eventually just gave up and will dispute the charge with my credit card company, but it was very bizarre. I definitely prepaid, and the charge on my credit card bill says “Hertz.”

Overall, an “OK”experience. They forgot to have car seats on the property that I previously rsvp’d. It was a major hiccup that cost us a half a day and was a total inconvenience since we had to go shopping for car seats in NYC which was not an easy task nor a fun one with kids. The vehicle we rented had a strong odor of cigarettes and maybe even marijuana. Certainly room for improvement.

Staff and cleanliness were good. The car itself was a Ford EcoSport. It had little horsepower and struggled up hills. The Toyota Corolla I rented from Enterprise the previous week was a far better car and value.

A lot of extra caherges, i usually quuote for 600usd in kayak, i paid 1000 on avis, and finally its 1600 USD, extra 1000usd fot nothing

Inside car windshield needs cleaning. People were great. Fast rental and return.

Not sure why I was not able to book using the portal and had to call Kayak.
