The car was a little dirty when I picked it up, staff provided good service the only problem we had was that the tire of the rental we got had low air pressure on tire so we had to stop at gas station to put air and of course just our luck the first one we stopped at was not working so we had to go to another gas station and put air, just felt like it was an inconvenience for us because car should not have any issues at all being rented out. Overall everything else was okay and we didn’t have any other issues with vehicle.

Reserved a SUV. While standing in line to be served, the guy upgraded the guy in front of me to their last SUV. I ended up getting a F150 that had no oil in it's engine and broke down on the way home. Cost me an extra day to get home, a night in Modesto, a pissed off wife and a lot off gas. Avis did their best to make things right. But beware of renting from the 3600 Wilshire Blvd location.

The car was clean and well maintained.

I did the pick-up at the West Hollywood location and the drop-off at the LAX airport. Drop off was completely fine but the pick-up experience was awful. First, I reserved the car starting at 10 am but I was not seen by anyone until almost 11 am. Second, both the manager and the person at the counter were awful. I am an international student and I have rented cars when traveling several times, but no place was so problematic (to say the least) when inspecting my documentation. Not only were they saying they would not rent me a car because of some made-up law which is in no place on their website at the moment of making the reservation (or a law of the state of California which they were claiming it was), but they had the dare to inspect my passport, make copies of my ID page AND VISA -which is extremely irregular-, and suggest I was not allowed to rent and that "I should know better". Third, after they "generously" decided to rent me the car, it turned out, they did not have the car I had reserved for and they were trying to get me to pay 75 USD extra PER day, instead of giving another car for the same price rate -which they ended up doing after I insisted I was not paying extra, nor I would wait two extra hours (additional to the hour and a half I was already paying for while sitting at their office). Finally, the car they gave me had only one-quarter of a tank of gas, when it is supposed to be full at the moment of pick up. In sum, awful. Never again.

We did not end up renting from them. First the airport location does not even pickup at the airport. Had to take the city bus from airport to a shuttle stop. Then waited for the midway shuttle. Got to the location and waited in line for about 30 min. Finally got to the counter and after giving a lot of info to the guy was told my husband had an issue with his credit. This was news to us. He showed me the issue and we told him that was not us. He said we could not rent the car. We told him it was a fake issue and looked like fraud. My husband was furious. He walked out and called thrifty where we got a rental for the same price and no hassle! Avoid midway!!!

Car choices don’t alert you that they are NOT where you requested. I asked for LAX pickup. It was an hour drive to that location. What a bait and switch. Will never use kayak for cars again

The car had less than 1/4 of fuel and the key had almost no battery. I tried to use the alternative physical key and it didn't work. The brakes were a bit noisy.

The pickup location closed early leaving us stuck in a seedy part of Los Angeles with all our baggage awaiting an uber. We wasted 2hrs travelling in traffic from LAX to pickup location, then another uber back to LAX (over $100 in travel). The Hertz at LAX refused to transfer the booking and I had to call HQ to have the order cancelled (5days to refund $500) and rebook as a walk-in for an extra $300. I will never book with Hertz again. Terrible experience.

Car cost was more than double the quoted price! They wanted to put a $400 (plus) hold on my credit card. It declined... I had to take a bus and a train to get back to Santa Monica. All in all, a real disaster!! Do not deal with Hertz!! They are crooks!! it was a real mess!! I am very upset!! Ray J. Singleton

The car was really nice and unlimited mileage is great.

The pickup process took over an hour. The rental car location is very far from the airport. They are in a fenced in lot and they open at 8am. My flight was at 7 and since I could not drop the car off at that location I was forced to pay $70 to drop off at a different location.
