I thought I was renting a car at the San Jose airport, but it turned out that it was a small facility off airport that cost me $40 to get to by taxi. The airport Hertz was not willing to do anything for me except rent me a car at walk-up rates (at least twice what I had prepaid), and not even give me credit for the prepaid amount. They said I could get it back from the "company". Yes, same company. Very unhelpful while he was telling me how he would accomodate me. I didn't have any reason to suspect that the car I was renting was not at the airport, as I am not familiar with the addresses in that area.
