Had to wait 1:30 to get our car! Worst exprerience ever!

Thrifty agents lied 1. The agent gave false information. This led to financial loss and lots of stress 2. I booked for an intermediate car for 500 mile one way trip and they gave me an electric car. Below are false information despite multiple confirmations 1. The range is 250 miles and 0-full charge is 45 mins. False. the range was 150 miles and I had to charge for 90 min for every 120 miles 2. The car has built in GPS along with Charge station map. False. The car did not have an GPS app nor the charge station list 3. Can use tesla charging stations. False, there was not a single tesla station that can be used for non-tesla cars All of the above resulted in a 12 hour trip from SF to San diego. I missed paid event resulting in a financial loss of $500. In addition, this caused so much stress throughout the trip.

We reserved a car for pickup on Friday at noon and dropoff on Monday. We arrive after taking a 45 minute bus ride to the office, and are told that they don’t have any cars. We’re put on a waitlist, informing us that it’ll be about a three hour wait, but that they close in three hours. At this point, we’re hoping we can wait it out and get a car on Saturday and salvage our trip. It’s now Tuesday, and at no point were we contacted about our car.

They need more supply of cars.

There was a candy in the car when I got it. I’d also asked for the smallest car and I got a Dodge Challenger which sucked down gas. It took almost a full tank to drive about four hours. This car made it more expensive and much more difficult for me to drive and I had to change my plans because I felt so uncomfortable driving it at night.

I asked the SFO office to rebook their car instead. As we were too tired to go to The pickup address at the downtown. Turned out the price charged by budget at SFO for the same car that I supposed too pick up is multiple times higher

Waiting time no good, everything else fine

Oversold cars for Presidents Day Weekend 2023, many showed up only to be told they had no cars. Dollar, if you don’t have the product, stop selling! Ruined our entire weekend planned weeks ahead.

La voiture qui nous a été donné à San Francisco, ne correspondait absolument à la catégorie réservé… Par contre le prix lui est resté. La voiture a eu des problèmes mécaniques et nous a été changée en cours de voyage. Le service client a été excellent pour le changement et la nouvelle voiture correspondait à la catégorie. Je me sent que floué sur la moitié de la location.

Good experience. Need to be careful as Tenderloin neighborhood is not the safest one.

Got to the address where I was supposed to pick the car up. It was the correct address of the booking, but they said I would have to go to another place entirely as the booking was held at a different unit. Got to the other unit and the staff weren't overly helpful or friendly. Using their mobile phones behind the counter while I was trying to collect my booking. I did get given an upgrade as they didn't have available the car that I had booked, which was good. However my card was also charged a sum of $250 which stayed on my account for a while before disappearing, which worried me that they then had charged me for the upgrade. I had already paid in full in advance. Then on return there was a change to our flights. It meant we would need to leave the car back a little earlier (not later). Still at the reasonable time of 9.30-9.40 am indtead of 12 noon. For doing this and taking the car a shorter time I was charged $154 fine. A number that feels completely picked out of the sky, and just preying on people. Considering how unreliable airlines have been following the pandemic with the ability to stick to airline schedules, I find this fine particularly disgusting. All it serves to do is give the company MORE time to have the car ready for the next person, as usually there is a problem that they don't have the car/car type you ordered. It wasn't my first disappointing car hire experience, and I'm sure it won't be my last. Overall, the best thing about it was that the cost still was at what I'd consider a good level (for the initial booking, I in no way am referring to the extortionate fine). Would not use Avis again on principle, even if other companies would do the same thing. I just don't think they deserve anymore of my money.

I didn't have any negative experiences with the car or the rental location, but I do wish it had been made clearer that the location was non-airport. I rented under the impression that it was, and then had to travel to pick it up when I arrived in San Fran.
