Cheap Car Rentals in North Camellia Acres / Camellia Gardens, Norfolk

I had to cancel. I needed to rent a car so I could get my daughter to a safe place. It would have been the most economical way. But unfortunately you cannot rent a car without showing your credit card in person. Who knew. I can buy plane, train and bus tickets but I cannot rent a car. So I had to cancel.

Quick pick off and drop off

Though I reserved a car and had all ID and Credit cards needed, they would not rent to me. Apparently recently moving affects my ability to rent a car. Agent told me I could Uber to an off site rental location, but not other resolutions were offered.

Easy check in and out. Friendly and courteous service

The car was filthy and had roaches. It took a long time to get support on the phone. The drop off was easy and the drop off staff was polite and genuine about the car’s condition when I returned it to them.

At no point was I informed of an additional $244 required for an authorization hold. I paid for the vehicle upfront, through Kayak. My receipt from Kayak only stated an additional $44 was needed at pickup for taxes and fees. If you do not have the additional unknown funding for authorization, and use a bank card, they up it to $500 for the authorization hold. Without the additional unknown funds, you are unable to rent the vehicle. While dropping off the vehicle another customer was in tears over not having additional room on a credit card for the authorization.

Ordered a large SUV but actually got a large station wagon with limited back seating for 3 people.

Only improvement could have been with their pricing. I ended up getting there 30min earlier than expected. Instead of saying no problem, I was told I need to drop the car off 30min earlier on return. They have every right to expect compensation for their product/services and if 30min is no big deal then the guy says well he's just 30min earlier than that (and this logic never ends) and Hertz could be out a significant amount of money. But it also took me more than 30min to go through the rental process, get the car, and leave the airport. It just seemed like the company wanted every $0.10 they could get. Maybe a little flexibility would have been better. Still no complaint.

Everything went super smooth and staff was great!

Reservation car wasn’t available and the charged me for the bigger car saying “reservations aren’t guarantees”. Then they put the wrong code in for my destination to return so it wasn’t at the airport but at a budget 5 minutes away which was a 300 dollar fee.. all and all my 96 dollar rental came to be 500 dollars. Avoid this company.

No A/C in car

The ease of pick up/ drop off. The car was super clean inside. Seems it may have got rained on after washing. No big problem though

Our flight was delayed, but this didn't end up being a problem at all. We actually got upgraded which was nice! As always, the Enterprise staff at pickup and drop off were great.

I showed up with my reservation at 11pm and was told that the only car they had was a 12 passenger van. I showed the desk agent my reservation and she essentially said that it didn’t matter if I had a reservation they were out of cars. End of conversation. Would not, will not ever use Avis again. I was left stranded late at night after a long day of travel and had unapologetic terrible customer service on top of it. The nice gentleman at Enterprise told me this was a pretty typical experience. Buyer beware.

On 12/9 at the Norfolk, VA airport we were rented a car with significant damage on the rear passenger side, beginning with extensive scratching that went through the paint near the rear wheel and had smaller dents on the passenger rear and front doors. The car had clearly been in some accident but was rented to us in that unacceptable condition. Because it was dark when we rented the car and there was no one at the exit, no one saw the damage until we saw the damage the next day. We took photos when we discovered the damage. We called a main number for Avis since we could not get through to a local number at the rental location (Norfolk, VA Airport) and filed a report over the phone with Jennifer on 12/10. We pointed it out to the attendant when we returned the car to the Richmond, VA Airport (it was a one-way rental) and told him about the report we filed with Jennifer. It is irresponsible and unacceptable to rent anyone a damaged car and we will NOT be responsible for one penny of damage. Putting anyone in the position of worrying that they may be held liable is outrageous. SHAME ON AVIS!

Great experience. Only complaint is fragrance used in car was unpleasant . Loved that the car had a pass for toll road.
