When I arrived at the pickup counter at the off-airport site, and declined the Budget insurance, the staff told me I had to show my proof of insurance (i.e., my insurance card or a copy of my personal car insurance policy). I don't travel with those documents. I have rented a car hundreds of times in my life, I ALWAYS decline rental agency insurance because my policy covers rental cars, and I have NEVER been asked to show proof of insurance. I was not advised beforehand of this requirement. The agent at the rental counter was EXTREMELY unhelpful in having me problem solve this issue.
