Cheap Car Rentals in New Town, Key West

First car we were given was dirty and full of trash. We were given another car that was clean and quite nice. My Amex sent me notice of the charge ($1047) which was more than double the booking charge($486). We had not been given any paperwork and when I went back to ask I was told they forgot to tell me there was a deposit that would be returned when I returned the car. I asked for and received paperwork regarding the rental. I have not received credit yet for the return but it’s only been one day since the return.

The personnel was poor with no regards for the customer. This applied to the pick up and drop off!!!!

The cost was well above the stated estimate. When I asked I was told it was due to the gas and that would be removed if it was brought back full. I did bring the vehicle back full but I do not think the fuel charge was modified. The receipt was emailed however I cannot open it. I do intend to look into this further.

Rental counter was closed when I arrived was unable to pick up my car I had to rent a car from enterprise it was open for the night so I could go for Key West to Marathon then I had to go back in the morning to return the enterprise car to pick up my Dollarama car which I picked up which was dirty and smelt like smoke and lady was rude at the counter and told me was the only vehicle they had but I could pay to upgrade to a clean car used the car for 10 days returned it to Fort Myers airport explain to the drop off people that the car was dirty and it wasn’t full of gas they were very apologetic and then proceeded to charge me $400 for smoking in the car I’m a non-smoker and pointed out the smell in the car when I picked it up from the counter person the car look like it was just returned and rented again very unhappy with Dollarama car I hope that now that Hertz has bought them They get dissolved along with the personnel! never again!!! Very disappointed with the whole situation!

They turned some people down with reservations as they did not have enough cars

We all appreciate customer service right? My flight got canceled, had to rebook in a nearby city, and they couldn’t transfer my pick up location to help my trip at a major hub where cars were plentiful. I went with Enterprise, no issues there!

Awful. Waited over an hour in a small office prior to pick up. Woman on the front desk with blonde hair was very rude and left us waiting in the office for over an hour when there was only one other person in there, who was already getting served by another staff member. Car was unclean. After just an hour of driving the car it started making a loud clacking noise. (We was running late so we did not have time to drive back). The noise did stop after a couple of days. Phoned to extend our car rental and was spoken to by the same lady we had on our pickup, again she was very rude and we got nowhere on the phone. Phoned again a few days later in hope that someone else would answer. Again the same lady actually put the phone down on me after I asked to extend the rental, I called back and she said she was really busy, which would have been ok but I told her I was borrowing our hotels phone and leaving so we would not have any other way to call , so she said “ok what do you want “ I said can I extend for another two weeks , she then quickly said “ok bye “ and put the phone down. I did not receive a message or an email confirming this so obviously she did not extend it as she didn’t even quote me on how much it would be. I have tried to go on the Hertz app to extend our booking but that won’t let me get past the “driving license number” section so I am now currently driving 3 hours back to the original pick up location to speak with them in person. I have never experienced such an incompetent member of staff as well as being so rude. I will not be using Hertz again

staff in key west airport were excellent!

The Hertz location where I was supposed to drop off the car was closed and I didn't know exactly what to do. I wish the employee had told me this when I picked up the car in Key West. There shouldn't be any ambiguity when dealing with a car.

Quicker at the arrival counter. Waited about an hour before got to teller.

Key west had no cars even when reserved. Had to wait 2.5 hours and still problems renting a car. Rep finally gave us a convertible as that is all they had. We appreciated getting the car but were very frustrated about the delay.

No cars available when we arrived. Waited 30+ minutes for a car. Otherwise, good.

Easy check-in and drop off process!

Agent at airport did an awesome job. Reservation was for North Roosevelt. Airport at South Roosevelt. Got me into a better SUV with minimal upcharge ($8). Taxi to other location would have been waaay more than that.

In airport wanted to charge an additional $11 per day for "airport tax" I went else where
