Flight was canceled due to mechanical issues, which is 100% ok and understandable. I’d much rather be safe than sorry. HOWEVER, when we got off the plane there were no reps at the gate to tell us next steps. It was 7pm and we were traveling with two small children. One hour later (8pm), still no updates, no reps. Most of the airport was closed. Lucky we had plenty of snacks for the kids. One hour after that (9pm) FINALLY an AIRPORT EMPLOYEE (not Lufthansa rep) tells us that she has hotel vouchers and taxi vouches that will be given out in order of family size. Since we were a fam of 4, we got one. Others had to sleep in airport. Got our bags, headed to taxi stands. No taxis because it’s now 10pm on 30 October in menorca, an island that basically closes to tourists by 1 November. Waited with the other 100 people in line for taxis to finally come 30 mins later. Lufthansa did NOTHING. Help desk phone number, online chat, and Facebook chat did not work. No reps at the airport. The cutstomer service aspect is HORRIBLE. If you fly Lufthansa I hope that nothing goes wrong with your flight.
