How to get from the airport to the city centre?
The airport is around 40km away from the capital of Stockholm. One of the quickest and most efficient ways of travel would be to use the Arlanda express. This train takes you directly from the airport to the city centre and runs every 15 minutes or so. You’ll find the platform underneath the arrival terminals. There are also the Flygbussarna Airport Coaches that take a little longer than the train but they are slightly cheaper and also run frequently. If you don’t like the idea of public transport or if you have a lot of baggage then you can get a taxi from the airport however the price will be considerably more expensive than the train.
You have two options really to get to the city. Either once you have booked your flights to Sweden you go ahead and arrange for a Flygtaxi, or an air taxi, to pick you up and take you to the centre or you get a bus. You can jump in a taxi as you get off the plane after your flights to Sweden but by arranging with the air taxi beforehand you’ll get better rates. The buses run twice every hour and if you pre-book your tickets online before you travel then you’ll find discounted prices are available.
Generally you’ll land at the Landvetter Airport in Gothenburg. It’s around 25km away from the city and there are a couple of different options you can make. Three times every hour you can get a bus from the airport to the city, on average it takes around half an hour but during the busiest times of the day this might take longer. Taxis are your alternative option and they are great if you have a lot of luggage or if there are 3 or 4 of you to split the fare, otherwise they’ll be very expensive. Make sure you agree on the fee before you get in to avoid being overcharged.
