Why Visit?

The Croatian city of Dubrovnik is situated along the Adriatic Sea, beckoning visitors to explore its stunning beaches and charming Old Town.

Dubrovnik’s beaches range from beautiful sweeping curves of sand to rugged coves with soaring cliffs. Lapad Beach and Banje Beach are both easily accessible and very pretty. Lokrum Island, reachable by ferry, offers a chance to escape the summer crowds.

The city experienced heavy bombing in the early 1990s, but is now making a full comeback as a flight destination for tourists. The city walls are well worth exploring and offer superb views of the area. St. John’s Fort houses the Maritime Museum, and The Stradun – the city’s main street – is the vibrant heart of the Old Town, beautifully paved with limestone and lined with bars, shops and cafes. Visitors can climb up to the cable car station and take a ride up Srd Hill, to take in spectacular views of the city and sea.

Other museums to visit in Dubrovnik include the Ethnographic Museum, with its collections of textiles and folk costumes, and the Rector’s Palace Museum, featuring paintings and artefacts. “Game of Thrones” fans can enjoy a show-themed tour of filming locations in the city.
