Cheap Car Rentals in Liberia

The Avis in Liberia sent us off the lot with an old, dilapidated tire that came apart in pieces as we were driving. The office did not pick up the phone or respond to us when we called in with the problem, but thankfully we were able to get in touch with the insurance provider who sent someone to change the tire. He was shocked at how old and rundown the tire was compared to the three others on the vehicle and told us we were very lucky it didn’t cause an accident. When I returned to Liberia and was finally able to connect to the Avis service people in person, they told me it was my fault for driving the car off the lot and charged me $280 for the tire. I have a report filed to try and resolve this, but this was one of the worst car rentals AND customer experiences I have ever had.

Probably the worst condition rental car ever. Rusted, bad tires, high mileage. Yet expensive.

Price ended up being 3x what was quoted on your website. Had to pay over $40 a day for insurance. $12.50 a day for a phone that did not work. Also charged $100 for a 1/4 tank of gas. The staff was rude on pickup and drop off. I will never use Avis again. Very disappointed.

Scam Alert! I can get past having to pay insurance that was nearly double the rental charge, which also wasn’t disclosed when booking online. But when returning the car, they told us everything looked good, and then five minutes later came back saying the passenger side lock was damaged from “someone trying to get in.” That seemed strange considering we were parked in a gated community for most of our stay. Even more concerning, the person inspecting the car initially acknowledged that this clearly wasn’t our fault and assured us we wouldn’t be charged. However, the person at the desk later told us we would be charged for the damage after taking a written statement from us acknowledging that the damage occurred (according to them). We only provided that statement with the understanding that we would not be charged. When picking up the car, they walked us around the vehicle to check for damage and never once checked the locks. When we questioned this, they said the mechanics check the locks before every rental, so I guess we’re just supposed to take their word for it. Very shady situation overall. I wouldn’t recommend

Kayak don’t include the Third Party Liability insurance in the price. The car renting was 150US on kayak.com but on place with the insurance (you can’t leave with the car without a 3rd party insurance) the price was 800US. What a scam from Payless and Kayak

The rental was not available upon arrival. Got a hold of rental agency at airport and they claimed that they never received the reservation.

Everything was great! Only thing that could have been better is that we were made aware of the shuttle offered from and to the airport. We ended up having to pay for a driver to take us to the car because we didn’t know. Was extra cost we didn’t have to have if we would have known.

Quick service

They don’t tell you about the mandatory insurance! And $2500.00 US deposit! Plus the vehicle I got wasn’t what I requested, and the pick up at the airport was an hour late. Horrible experience overall, would not recommend. And I won’t be ever renting from them ever again!!!
