Hello, I traveled from Monrovia Liberia to Manila On Feb17 - booking reference HOVKHX. When I arrived in Accra airport, I was set aside and told by security folks who check passports on arrival, that i need to pay additional $250 because they are not sure if I will be admitted to Philippines. I was surprised because this is a first time ever I was asked to pay, I am US citizen with valid passport, I am vaccinated and have e-registration for Manila arrivals. I asked them to allow me to speak to Airline representative which they refused. I was not allowed to enter departure lounge for two hours. I was threatened that my luggage will be pulled out if I don't pay. Finaly, they decided that written statement will be enough so I signed a hand made receipt that I take responsibility if Philliines border agent will refuse my entry, At that time they let me go upstairs to departure lounge. While upstairs, I was approached again by security and ask to pay otherwise they would not allow me to board the aircarf. I asked again for guidance, regulation or anything that would suggest that this is in fact the procedure - nothing was produced. I asked for airline rep but she did not know anything about it and was not really helpful. This incident cause me huge emotional stress. I am attaching the receipt they gave me after I paid $250. Please let me know if I should file a complaint or criminal charges with the airport. I am an American diplomat working in Liberia so I will be happy to use my contacts, Thanks you for a quick response.
